Originally from Marseille, where he lives and works, Laurent Giordano, known
as WILE, is one of those people who has always had an artistic flair and has
never stopped developing it. As a teenager attracted by urban culture, he
enthusiastically took up graffiti, “straying away from basic lettering to develop
new shapes.’ In the spur of the moment, WILE decided to train as an expert in
graphic arts in order to perfect his vision and practice, and after several years
of training, he obtained his diploma from the ‘Axe Sud’ school in Marseille.
WILE began his career as an independent graphic designer and it was only a
few years later that he felt the desire to put his ideas onto canvas. As
passionate as he is enterprising, he worked diligently to develop his pictorial
language and then went out to meet the professionals of the art world, and
thus bring his work face to face with their critical eyes.
Drawing most of his inspiration from the heart of his city and its inhabitants,
WILE works from photographs taken randomly in the moment during his
urban walks, which he interprets using his spray paints and stencils. Boldly
dynamic and positive, WILE’s painting consists of snapshots of life that, each
in their own way, bear witness to the beauty of simple things.
